The Caribbean Basin Table Tennis Innitiative Club (CBTTI) in Brooklyn, East New York, was founded in 2000 by Francis David “Sky” Llewellyn, a former national champion from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Llewellyn established the club to promote table tennis within the Caribbean diaspora and to provide a platform for cultural exchange through sport.
In March 2025, the club celebrated the grand opening of its dedicated space at the Grace Lifestyle Center, located at 434 DeWitt Avenue in East New York. This new facility serves as a hub for training, community events, and youth development programs. The club continues to host tournaments, such as the annual Caribbean UN Ambassadors Table Tennis Tournament, fostering regional and international connections.

Philosophy & Vision
We believe table tennis is a powerful tool for growth, discipline, and community. Our mission is to open doors for young and old, starters and professional players in New York by making the sport accessible, competitive, and culturally affirming.
We envision a new generation of players who excel at the table, lead in their communities, and bring greater representation to the sport. Through training, mentorship, and pride in identity, we aim to build champions—on and off the table.
Functional Principles for Life
Discipline – Show up, stay consistent, and honor your commitments.
Focus – Train the mind to be present and intentional, both in play and in life.
Resilience – Learn from setbacks, adapt, and rise stronger.
Respect – Value yourself, your peers, your coaches, and your community.
Excellence – Strive for growth, not perfection; improve a little every day.
Community – Build others up, because success is greater when shared.
Balance – Harmonize mind, body, and spirit to sustain lifelong well-being.
